  • Atrocity

Reading through this list makes me feel so absolutely ashamed of myself.

25 Wasteful Things You Can Live Without:

    1. Plastic wrap -- Instead, use a container with a lid.
      - Guilty. I do use containers with a lid but then again, not all container have lids. Plastic wraps are so convenient.

    2. Tin foil -- Use an oven-safe pot or dish with a lid.
      - Guilty. Again, there are only so few lids that can go in the oven. What else is there?

    3. Disposable cleaning cloths, dusters, etc. -- Use a microfiber cloth that can be washed.
      - NOT guilty. I'm glad I'm at least not guilty for this one.

    4. Paper towels -- Use a tea towel, instead.
      - Guilty. Seriously, who can do without paper towels?

    5. Disposable pens -- Buy a good pen that only needs the ink well changed.
      - Guilty. They are my best friends!

    6. Paper plates -- Washing dishes may be an effort, but it's worth it.
      - Sometimes guilty. I only use them for parties.

    7. Plastic cutlery -- Use the metal stuff.
    8. - Sometimes guilty. See above. And also take-aways.

    9. Disposable razors -- Invest in a razor that only needs the blades changed.
      - Not guilty. I use an epilator. happy

    10. Packaged fruits and vegetables -- Produce does not need to be packaged.
       - NOT guilty. Not a fan of frozen produce.

    11. Individually wrapped snacks -- Snacks travel better anyway in a hard container.
      - Guilty. Easy storage, prevent biscuits from going soft.

    12. Juice boxes -- Put juice in a reusable container (not plastic).
      - NOT guilty. Don't drink juices.

    13. Electric pencil sharpeners -- Use the hand-crank version of days gone by.
      - NOT guilty. Rarely use pencils anymore. Even when I do, I sharpen the good, old-fashioned way.
    14. Disposable diapers -- Cloth diapers aren't that much more difficult to use.
      - NOT guilty. Don't need them yet.

    15. Disposable cloths -- Fabric cloths can be washed regularly to avoid bacterial or viral build-up.
      - NOT guilty. What's that for?

    16. Paper or plastic single-use grocery bags -- Get a few reusable bags.
      - Guilty. BUT I reuse them as bin bags.

    17. Bottled water -- Install a water filter on your tap or pick up a water jug with a filter.
      - NOT guilty. I use my own reusable Rubbermaid bottles.

    18. Non-rechargeable batteries -- Make the investment for rechargeable batteries and you'll save money in the long run.
    19. - Guilty. No hassle.

    20. Electric can openers -- Use a little muscle.
      - NOT guilty. Not that desperate yet.

    21. Single-serving pudding or yogurt cups -- Buy a large container of yogurt or make your own pudding, and send it in a reusable container.
      - NOT guilty and Guilty. Don't make puddings. I buy pre-packed fruit yogurt sometimes.

    22. Plastic cups -- Stick to reusable cups.
      - Guilty. BUT plastic cups ARE reusable!

    23. Disposable table cloths -- Spills are a reality of life; just clean them up as they happen.
      - NOT guilty.

    24. Antibacterial wipes -- If you must, use a gel hand sanitizer.
      - Guilty. BUT I also reuse them to wipe dust.

    25. Facial tissues -- Unless you have a bad cold, a handkerchief will work just fine.
      - Guilty. Absolutely can't live without them.

    26. Paper billing -- Switch to e-billing for your bank statement, credit card bill, utility bill, etc.
      - NOT guilty. It's less messy and saves me a few bucks each month! pleased

    27. Plasticized sticky notes -- Use the original paper sticky notes; they can be recycled when you're done with them.
      - Guilty. I only use them as flags though. They don't get crumply and last longer than their paper counterparts.

Guilty on 13 out of 25 counts. 6 considered pardoned. No I shouldn't be convicted.

  • Note to self

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can.

Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

  • As much as I try to keep this blog alive, I don't seem to be trying hard enough

A thousand things are going through my mind right now but there are many things that I just should never say out loud publicly. Some things are best kept inside and personal.

It's been two weeks since I got back from my trip and I think I've probably injured my feet for walking too much. I think my feet are traumatized. After two weeks, my feet still ache when I walk for even a short distance on flats. One week ago I couldn't even slip one foot into heels without getting cramps all over. Now, 1.5 hours of walking on flats feels like 7 hours on killer heels. I don't know how bad is that, I just want it to stop aching. My only consolation is that the pain only comes after I walk for an hour or so.

The terrible part is SALES IS ON EVERYWHERE and I can't walk! But despite all that, I still managed to grab 3 tops, a dress, a pair of shorts, a denim skirt, a handbag, a purse and 6 books for quite a good bargain. VERY good bargains in fact.

But all that purchases and the trip left me pretty broke and I'm almost down to my last penny. So I can actually count it a blessing in disguise that my feet are failing me now so that I can't walk too much.

  • Deter-mined

I'm getting a little determined. You could call it desperate for all you want. And yes, I am desperately determined. To do what? Well, let's just leave that for me to deal with. After all being too confident is never a good thing. God only knows how I am even going to get cracking. But I'll try. I'll come out with something. It's better than nothing. But before that, I'll need a game plan.

  • The Thing about Working

I'd been working for only a month and already my body is physically drained. Not that I've a lot to do nor do I have to do any overtimes. It's just working itself that slowly burns me out.

Where I'm working at, I have nothing to complain, really. My bosses are a nice bunch of lawyers. The clerks are okay, they aren't the bossy-think-they-know-everything bunch at all. The LAs are helpful and friendly. AND we close SHARP on time. I mean, where else in the world can you find another firm like this? There probably are some out there, but they are rare, I'm almost certain about that. But it's not like we don't have work to do. There are tonnes of files lying around the office and everyone works round the clock during office hour (unless of course if you are an attachment student like me, I get a few hours free once I finished my files in hand before more is handed over to me). But the good thing about this firm is, it doesn't let work get above the employees. Work has to be done but you go home when it's time to go home.

Ok. That's enough of rave over how good the firm is. The point is, it's a nice firm which doesn't stress you out more than you need to be.

But it's tiring. Working is tiring. I can't imagine working for the rest of my life. I am just so glad I'm only working for a month and TWO entire months of doing absolutely nothing is waiting ahead for me!

  • M68

To act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly.
    Micah 6:8

Shoot yourself with an M68 when faced with a difficult situation. That should be able to show you a way out.

  • Life's like a symphony. There's the high notes then the low keys. Together they make a wonderful piece. But first, gotta learn to embrace the low keys and enjoy the high notes.
